Eye Infection? Why You Should Go To Urgent Care

An urgent care center is a medical facility that can help treat you for medical conditions when your physician isn't in the office or when they require more immediate medical attention but not exactly emergency room medical attention. One such medical issue is an eye infection. It's something that should be treated right away, but it doesn't require the emergency room because it isn't exactly an emergency. If you aren't sure if you should go to urgent care for an eye infection, read on for reasons why you should.
1. For Immediate Treatment
An eye infection can sometimes be painful and can worsen further if you aren't careful. If you have younger children, it can be difficult to tell your child that they need to wait a few days to get into the doctor and to not touch their eyes for a few days. It can also be difficult for an adult to have to wait several days in order to get in to see their regular physician. Going to urgent care allows you or someone you love to get the right treatment right away to ease the pain and discomfort associated with an eye infection.
2. To Prevent Worsening Issues
Prevent worsening issues by having this issue treated right away. Avoid worsening problems such as the infection going into the other eye or spreading to the ears or throat or elsewhere in the body. An eye infection can also get worse to the point that slight oozing can become major oozing. You don't want your eye to become crusted over so you can't see out of it. This can also lead to ongoing vision issues if not treated soon.
3. To Prevent Infecting Others
Eye infections such as pink eye can be contagious and can eventually affect others around you. If you don't have your child's eye infection treated for instance and you send them to school, their eye infection could affect other children they come into contact with, leaving several other kids with the same eye infection your child had. The same goes for those in your home; if one person has an eye infection and isn't treated, it can cause others in your home to also get the same eye infection.
If you or someone you love has an eye infection, you should go to urgent care to be treated. Treatment such as eye drops may be necessary in order to clear up the infection. Make an appointment or go to urgent care if you suspect an eye infection.
